What do we mean by "Energetics"?

What is meant by the term “Energetics” and how does this differ from plain and simple “Energy”?

Energy may take many “forms” e.g. magnetic, electrical, chemical and other. The very life force that enlivens human bodies is a type of energy. If the energy that weaves the form of the human body experiences a blockage - or crosscurrents of energies - then the human body manifests distortions of function, known as illness.

Energy is the motor of all human activities. If we ask why the heart is able to contract, we say it is because the heart has energy in it; if the contraction of the heart stops, we say it is because there is no energy in the heart.

Although we do not see energy as such, we do know whether it is working or not, like electricity. When energy is disordered, it can cause various types of observable symptoms. “Syndromes” are patterns of imbalance that are related to energy.

At times energy disturbances are more localised in the body - to a particular system or organ. Then there are various outward symptoms along common themes of heat versus cold and moisture versus dryness of the body to indicate which systems are involved and in which way. These signs allow us to ascertain what’s going on “inside”.

Energetic Medicine may be seen as the science / art of describing the inner landscape of the human body in terms of temperament or climate. Does your body mostly feel hot or cold? Does your body feel dry or moist? Are there parts of your body that are colder or warmer than the rest?Do you prefer hot or cold weather? Are there times of day when your symptoms are stronger or weaker? Are there any signs of sudden wind-like spasms, cramps or pain?
